My consultancy work focuses on two principal areas - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT and CROSS CULTURAL skills training. Both deal with relationship building, the foundation stone of all business.

Both areas have been passions of mine for many years. My clients are law firms and other professionals in the UK, the US, Austria, France, Poland, Lithuania and Belgium. I also advise major international corporations. I have always worked in an international environment and have been a law firm Partner since 1980.

In the case of professional firms, I help both the firm and its individual members in demystifying Business Development. I provide strategic advice and training in the essential skills to sell more effectively and deepen client relationships. I do not subscribe to the view that in the 21st Century these are "soft" skills. They are integral to generating revenue.

My cross cultural work focuses not just on professional service firms but also on corporations. I believe that Cultural Awareness and Cultural Intelligence are skills that are too often underestimated and that despite increasing globalisation, cultural misunderstanding remains an important impediment to successful business relationships. I see my role as helping businesses to bridge build across national boundaries.

For my law firm clients and other professions, my differentiator compared to some other "consultants” is that I have over 30 years experience as a law firm partner and have therefore a deep understanding of the professional services industry.

On the cross cultural front, my bi-cultural education and my many years of interacting both socially and professionally in an international environment together with ongoing research in the field of Cultural Intelligence have armed me with the experience and intellectual curiosity to help others overcome cultural obstacles in business.

I work with senior management so as to understand fully the culture of my clients. My advice and the training and mentoring I undertake is always bespoke. My style of working is both informal and interactive. In all my work, my objective is to share my own experience, to teach best practice and above all to inspire.
